Wheelchair Platform Lifts
Wheelchair Lifts,
sometimes called Platform Lifts, from Premier Lift Products, Inc.
are designed to provide reliable, safe transportation for people with
physical disabilities. The versatile, compact design can make
a
wheelchair lift the perfect solution to accessibility problems in homes
as well as in commercial applications. These lifts can
overcome
architectural barriers both economically and with space
efficiency.
All wheelchair or platform lifts consist of an open, guarded platform
that operates using constant pressure control.
Each lift is custom
designed by experienced professional engineers. As an
independent distribution and installation company, Premier Lift
Products, Inc. is not locked into one particular supplier – We
represent several leading wheelchair lift equipment
manufacturers. This gives us the ability to provide the
equipment that is best suited for your situation. We have
done the research for you … determining which products are the highest
quality and most reliable. Call or
email us to schedule an appointment today, our team is ready
to assist you.
Vertical
Wheelchair Lifts
Vertical Wheelchair
Lifts or VPL’s
are acceptable for use in both
residential and commercial applications. They are designed to rise just
a few inches up to a maximum llifting height of 14 feet with a
capacity of 750 pounds. VPL’s consist of a platform, lifting
tower and landing doors or gates with safety interlocks.
Common lift system drives are “Ball Screw” or “2:1 cable/chain
hydraulic.” There are three basic types of Vertical Platform Lift: "Enclosure" or "Hoistway" or
non-enclosed "Residential
Porch Lift".

 |
Enclosure VPL:
These lifts consist of a platform, lifting tower and interlocked
landing doors or gates with the addition of a self-contained smooth
runway provided by the lift manufacturer to “enclose” the
lift. The enclosure typically consists of a steel or aluminum
frame with steel or Plexiglas filler panels. Enclosure VPL’s
are permitted to provide access between non-fire-separated levels only.
Hoistway
VPL:
These lifts consist of a platform, lifting tower and interlocked
landing doors or gates that are installed into a smooth hoistway
provided by others. The hoistway is typically constructed of standard
framing and drywall by the general contractor. Hoistway VPL’s
are permitted to provide access between non-fire-separated levels or
fire-separated levels when properly fire rated and equipped with
interlocked fire doors.

Residential Porch Lift:
As the name indicates, these lifts are designed for residential lifting applications
in open areas. A typical Porch Lift VPL is used for short
rise, opposite entry situations where an enclosure may not be
required. They have an automatic folding ramp that acts as a
safety barrier on the lower landing side of the platform, safety
sensors under the platform and two 36" high side-guards on the non-exit
sides. An interlocked gate on the platform is also
available. The upper landing is guarded by an interlocked
landing gate that will only open when the lift is at the top level.
These lifts are perfect for use in attached garages or up to a deck or
porch. We have residential
VPLs available for lifts of just a few inches up to a
maximum rise of 14 feet.

Inclined
Platform Wheelchair Lifts:
Inclined
platform lifts are designed to provide reliable, safe transportation
along a stairway for people with physical disabilities. These
lifts can be a cost & space efficient solution to accessibility
in your home. While some states allow inclined lifts in
commercial applications, Minnesota
codes typically prohibit their use
in Public Buildings except in very rare situations when
vertical access
is not suitable.

IMPORTANT:
Before
beginning construction, it is important that you obtain an actual
layout drawing for your specific application. Contact the sales staff at Premier Lift
Products, Inc. for complete specifications. All wheelchair
platform lifts must be manufactured in accordance with certain
performance
and safety standards.
The code standard most
widely recognized and
enforced is ASME ANSI A18.1 Part-2 (commercial) & part-5
(residential). Some state and local standards may vary … so check with
local authorities to assure compliance. All units must be installed in
accordance with all applicable elevator, building, electrical and fire
codes in force at the location of the installation. Specifications and
dimensions are subject to change, without notice, due to product
enhancements or evolving codes.
